Case Study: Nicker NS
Paddy Ryan my great grandfather on my mum’s side fought for the American Army during the war. He was raised on Nicker Hill (I think). He worked for a light company in New York. That’s where he signed up for the war. Luckily he didn’t get killed. He is famous for breaking the world record in hammer throwing. He also broke the record for the longest winning margin. Then he came back to Ireland, built the house I’m living in now got married and was happy. His monument can be seen in New Pallas near St. Ailbe’s Credit Union.
