“I think that when we talk about empowering children as researchers, this is what we had in mind.”
-Ann Donnelly, Artist
Case Study: Lisnafunchin NS -Pioneer Aviator
In Lisnafunchin NS, every child had invested in the research process to an extent where they had fully absorbed the information and were telling their own version of every story that Ann and Mary heard on their visit. Even with this confidence, often children find it challenging to tell a story to a camera, but in this case Ann asked who wanted to tell her about Denys Corbett Wilson, pressed record and the story came out clearly, in coherent order, with exquisite detail and empathy. The resulting recording hardly needed editing.
